A Great Victory … Thank You!
Butte County took a little longer to come in than we had expected, but it was worth the wait. The count is now complete with the possible exception of a handful of votes in El Dorado County and the election result stands at: McClintock 185,615 and Brown at 183,840.
The lead of 1,775 votes is a margin of victory that puts us well outside the possibility of a recount changing the outcome. To put it in perspective, it is more than twice the margin by which I lost the race for State Controller in 2002.
The numbers came in a little late to hold a press conference today but I expect to have a formal statement at our Congressional transition office in Roseville on Monday.
In the meantime, I can only reflect on the fact that I will never be able adequately to thank all those who so selflessly volunteered their time and resources to bring us to this moment. It is appropriate that the tally should be completed on the eve of Thanksgiving Day – it is a reminder of how much I owe to all those who rallied to the cause and to the voters of the fourth Congressional District. I am well aware of the trust that has been placed in me and I will do everything I can to be worthy of it.
I want also to congratulate Charlie Brown and his supporters on waging one of the most hard-fought campaigns I have ever faced. There can be no doubt of the sincerity of their views or the dedication with which they pursued them. I know from personal experience how difficult it is to lose a close race, and I hope it is a consolation for them to know that they made a truly superb effort.
I will have much more to say formally on Monday, but for now please accept my sincere thanks for all of the sacrifices that have been made on behalf of my candidacy.

Great Job Tom.
I am not in your district but I am big fan of yours.
As far as I am concerned, you represent me.
Please, do not get caught up in the fiscal irresponsibility that get a hold of so many who go to Washington.
I am proud of you and pray that you will uphold your office with integrity.
God Bless you.

Great news, best news of Election ‘08! Congratulations Congressman Elect McClintock.
Will “The Office of the Congressman Elect” have its own seal and start making empty statements every day? I rather doubt so.
The 4th will be well represented.

Great news. Please lead the House GOP delegation the way that Newt did leading up to the 1994 victory. You are the one to do it just as you have always been our hero leading the conservative and fiscal responsibility fight in California.

We are very thankful for you, Tom…and we’re hoping that everything goes smoothly for you (no recounts!). Your election to Congress would be the only good news we’ve heard in a very long time. Thank you for being a hero to us - we admire your constant bravery in facing up to the hostile liberal forces in California, which must be incredibly stressful for you. It gives us a ray of hope to know that someone we actually trust and admire is fighting to save this state from complete ruin. Thank you!

Congratulations on the win Tom, I supported you for Governor when I lived in Az., but after 25 years of living there, I escaped to Arizona after I saw the electorate choose a less qualified candidate… sorry, I couldn’t hang any longer. I follow your career because you are one of the bright stars in the GOP, a principled leader that has core values. Many claim that they have those qualities, but few possess them, you do.
Fight the good fight!

Libertarian Republicans from around the Nation salute you Tom. A hearty Congratulations on your victory. In an otherwise bleak election year for libertarians, your victory is the one thing that gives us hope for the future.
Thanks!

Wonderful news! Too bad there are so few like-minded candidates in our state - especially down here in Southern California. Hopefully, your win will spark others to follow.

CONGRADULATIONS!!!!! Thank God you won. As a Veteran I’m glad that a Pro-America canidate will represent the 4th district in congress.
Your opponent is a member of the ACLU which is a cancer that seeks to destroy the religious and moral foundations of America. God bless you, your family and the USA.

Please DON’T go the way of that traitor Ginrich! Keep sticking up for true conservatism despite the sell-out Republican Party. I’ve always considered TM California’s Ron Paul–it is great that he can get away from socialist California politics.

Your victory was one of the few heartening outcomes of the 2008 election. Even though I live in northeast Vermont 3000 miles away, I was proud to be at least a small contributor to it. America needs strong leadership more than ever, and your principled and unremitting record has been an inspiration to people all over the country who are tired of squishy, weak-kneed “Republicans” who will fold in the tough times.

McClintock has been the single best legislator in California, and he will instantly be a leader in Congress with other heroes like Pence and Flake.

Congratulations Tom McClintock.
How exciting that you won.
I heard you on the radio on KABC talking about the government bailout.
I agree with you that it uses up precious credit that other people need for their businesses.
Thank you for serving the people of California.

Great news! Now we need to restablish our party as the true leader of change. We did not loose this election by a large margin. regarding the popular vote. We may not have lost without the Wallstreet fiasco! Help us take the initiative. This is not change but old Clnton Adm.foks back again!!

Tom McClintock and Duncan Hunter, Jr., two very good people to be thankful for, especially from California! Don’t loose your way once exposed to all those “seasoned politicians”. Stand your ground, be steadfast and spend our money cautiously. The Republican Party is in great need of some new Great Leaders and you both are on my short list! Congratulations!!!!! And PLEASE, do what you can to get Ramos and Compean out of prison and compensated appropriately for this terrible miscarriage of justice. Protect our borders and enforce our existing laws! We have so many serious problems in this Country now and it will take years to correct and improve things. I feel sorry for my Children and Grandchildren. They will not have the same life experience and opportunity that I had. Let’s fix it!!!! Thank you!

I am a South Carolinian who has learned about you and appreciated you from afar, getting my exposure to your fine and all-too-rare ways through the John and Ken Show on KFI. Please battle against federal spending, the federal usurpation of power since the 1930s, and to stop and reverse immigration - illegal and legal. It is a tall order, but it has to be done and I can think of no one else to lead the way in the fetid swamp that is Congress.
