Statement From Sen. McClintock
Tom McClintock issued the following statement:
November 5, 2008
I wish to thank everyone who voted in the Fourth Congressional District. I am gratified and thankful that my campaign emerged after election night with the lead. I have full confidence in the hard-working and dedicated election officials who are counting the remaining absentee and provisional votes. I am confident that once the process is completed I will be the Representative for the Fourth Congressional District.

Although I am not in your district, I have been listening to you over the radio waves for a very long time and I always have agreed with your political position on many different issues (primarily heard you on the John & Ken show on KFI).
Although my contribution was small I hoped it helped and I pray you will be successful. I will plan to follow your future political endeavors.
As Ever,
Milly

We are happy that we will be represented by a Congressman that has common sense –which of course isn’t so common.

Good Luck Tom!
I had the pleasure to meet and greet you, and your mother, along with Fred Thompson back in May. I’ve admired your work since I learned of it while I was at the News Chronicle. I know this sounds incongrious, but down here, we’re looking forward to missing you, as you serve all Califorrnia all the better in bringing fiscal responsibility to Washington.

Congradulations soon to be Representative McClintock!
I live in the belly of the beast, the Bay Area, and wish you were my candidate. Best wishes to you in DC. Having watched you from afar I hope to see your leadership in the Republican Party in the House for surely they need it.
Godspeed

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to vote for you because I live just a few miles shy of District 4, but I have been rooting for you. I grew up in Thousand Oaks, so I have been aware of your career for quite some time now. I have been checking the vote-counts every couple of hours since the polls closed, and of all races this election, this one I hope goes your way! Thanks for your advice on the propositions, by the way. Good luck……I know you will make a great Congressman, and I can’t wait to see the effect you will have on “the Hill”.

Congratulations from the Liberal 14th congressional district. I am a big Ron Paul supporter and I know he thinks you will be great in Congress. Thanks for supporting the Liberty Movement.

Amen, Mr. McClintock. Amen. It’s finally time for you to move out of the small House and into the Big One. Keep spreading the ideals of limited government and anti-legislative morality in Washington.

Dear Tom:
I’m not in your district but I have nevertheless contributed to your campaign. I am praying that you do lock in the win. In fact, I hope that down the road you will again run for governor of California, and then the presidency. You are a true fiscal conservative, a voice of reason and a man of integrity and honor. I wish there were a lot more like you to help us stand up for what’s right in America before we slide too far to the left.
Congratulations and best wishes,

I really hope you win Mr. McClintock. We need true conservatives in Washington more than ever. Hopefully you can lead our party back to where it belongs. Good Luck.

Are all Absentee Ballots only counted when the race is very close? I always vote that way and recently heard that “they” are only counted if the race is within a certain tolerance. What about all the other issues, local races and propositions? If this is true, maybe I should not vote this way.
Also, yesterday I heard that the Ballots from our Military overseas arrived past the acceptable date and would not be counted. The Pentagon sent them out late. A judge has ordered them to be held for 10 days and only in the event of a close race would they be “considered”. Do they not also have local candidates and propositions that could be affected. I feel their votes should count for 20 of each of ours!
11.05.08
2:55 pm
Congratulations, We need conservatives in Congress as much as we need air & water.
I wish I could have helped you financially, but things aren’t going good in my life right now and with a liberal in the white House and liberals majorities in both houses I’m concerned.
May God be with you as you enter into your new position.
11.05.08
3:01 pm
Congratulations, as an ex-Californian I know that your race was a challenge.
I hope you will carry the torch of Congressman Tancredo, Colorado’s Sixth District in protecting America’s sovereignty and putting a stop to illegal immigration. Our country needs leaders who will put their country before their party and place American citizens above illegal aliens. I wish you well.
11.05.08
3:25 pm
I hope that the remaining votes go in your favor. We need more true conservatives in Washington. I have long admired the work you have done in the state senate.
11.05.08
3:36 pm
Good luck, Tom. I sincerely hope you win and can stem some of the liberal tide that is sweeping the country. We need a balance in Washington. With your strong, conservative convictions, I know you will serve the 4th district well. Although, I don’t live in the 4th district I am pulling for you all the way.

3:54 pm
You victory is the one silver cloud to emerge from last night’s terrible storm. I admire you so much, that given the choice between your victory or McCain’s, I would choose your success every time. I envy the electorate of California’s 4th district. Let this be just the beginning of a successfully path to even higher office.

4:15 pm
Tom,
Wow! What a close margin… it goes to show that every vote does indeed count. Congratualtions on your victory! I am looking forward to your candid “no - nonsense” approach to the budget and State spending. With the State already severely in debt and voters piling on more to finance really expensive trains, I am very worried about my future and the continued fiscal viability of our State. This turnip is running dry.

Congratulations on the victory!
I was working 19+ hours a day with the YES on 8 Campaign and thank you for all of the support for the preservation of marriage. It is great to trust that a man of morally-based principle is being put in office as our Representative here in the Fourth Congressional District. Trust that our support is behind you as you are battling for our freedoms in DC.
Thank You Tom!

Congratulations Mr. McClintock! I am thrilled that you WILL be our Congressional representative in what is now the darkest hour of American political conservatism since the 1964 Presidential & Congressional elections when the Democrats won major landslides. I fully expect that you WILL be an important figure in the Republican House leadership not too many years from now; we desperately need your leadership and I do hope other Conservatives in the 4th Congressional District will support your bid in this regard.

Even though politically we are miles apart, I want to send my congradulations. In high school, you were always kind, considerate, thoughtful and honest and those are qualities that are lacking in many politicians. And I’ll admit - I will be bragging to all my friends, even the most left wing liberals, that I used to know you. Good Luck Tom!
11.05.08
5:38 pm
Don’t let the corrupt Dems steal the eleciton from you! Make sure you have trusted people who know what they’re dooing watching over the process.

6:42 pm
Good Luck and of course all the McClintocks hope you are the next representative for the Forth District. I live in Orange County, and proudly displayed my “McClintock For Congress” T-shirt whenever possible. Since I teach college, all the students thought I was the person on the shirt. I pointed out that it was Senator Tom McClintock, one of our best people in Scramento. Of course they asked if we were related, my answer is; “that it is possible that all McClintocks can track back to one or two familys that first came to America. We will always stand with you - win or !!!!!

Thank you for always standing for decent, responsible, honest, pragmatic, conservative policies in a time where California’s left wing establishment is running the State into the ground.
I am glad I could be part of this campaign with my tiny contribution.
Congratulations, and my very best wishes. Sincerely, Hart Fischer

9:19 pm
I hope you and Ron Paul become good friends, we need more SMALL government republicans…its sad that we even have to make a distinction between small and big government republicans but maybe someday your philosophy will reign over the republican party again.
11.05.08
9:32 pm
Congratulations and Praise God! We wish we lived in your district (we are unrepresented with Zoe Lofgren). Best wishes in your relentless pursuit of conservative principles in government. We need more statesmen like you.
11.05.08
10:19 pm
Awesome, we need true conservatives like yourself, I voted for you over Arnold.
I think for our party to win in the future we need more people like Ron Paul and yourself.
11.05.08
10:39 pm
Congratulations Sir!
I do not live in your district, but wanted to express my thanks to you for standing up as a statesman more than a politician. I believe that one of my personal heroes, Ron Paul, has endorsed you for your seat in California, and I wish you God’s blessings, and sound judgment. I would also like to thank you for supporting proposition 8, for the CA. constitutional ban on same-sex marriage. Please consider a bid for the 2012 elections when the Republican Party will need a leader, either in the Senate, or in the White House!!!

Fingers crossed for you Tom! It’s looking good that we’ll have you in Congress once again to help rebuild the Republican party to concentrate on core values of limited government and fiscal responsibility. Give the Dems a good fight - we’re counting on you!

12:28 am
Congratulations here too, and I must say “Thank God”. So much was lost in this election (and maybe some of it is best lost so we can replace it with better). But I was absolutely counting on McClintock winning our district, it was a shoe-in in my mind, and I did not appreciate the razor closeness it turned out to be.
But, all is well that ends well. We have the best conservative in the country representing our district, and that is surely something.
11.06.08
12:44 am
Congratulations Tom. We need you in Congress, and your voice, especially at this time. We know Chris is so proud of you and enjoying your victory. All the best to you and your family. Bob and Marcia.

God Bless you Senator! I have voted for you every time you run and i will continue to do so……

8:43 am
Congratulations Mr. McClintock, I am thrilled you have chosen to serve our district. Your platform made sense when you ran for Governor (and earned my vote), and it still rings true. Up here in Lake Tahoe, we are strapped with an honerous local government that takes joy in saddling small business with untenable regulation. I am happy to hear your stance regarding the TRPA, and I will -actively- support any efforts you make that lead to their abolition.
God bless you, and welcome!

Hi Tom- I just want to say that I am 100% behind you and have been since I moved to California in 2000. When you ran against Arnold for governor and everyone said you have to vote for Arnold, I couldn’t do it and proudly cast my vote for you. And will continue to do so. I have added this to my list of prayers and feel confident that God will answer.
11.06.08
8:55 am
I am confident, too, Tom. Congratulations. We needed this!

Congratulations to Tom McClintock, and to the fine people of this district. You have elected the smartest, most fiscally responsible, and much admired man to represent your interests. I was a supporter of Tom’s when I lived in Thousand Oaks. Though I no longer reside there I have followed Tom’s career with interest and am very happy for him and for you. I know he will serve with honor and integrity.

10:09 am
Congratulations Tom, you are an inspiration for of all conservatives in this great state. I was glad to see Ron Paul and the Campaign for Liberty give your their endorsement.
11.06.08
10:33 am
Thank you and congratulations! Please continue to fight for the conservative values of our country regardless of the final tally of votes. Should final results not be in your favor please consider a recount - we need your representation in view of the national voting results. I am grateful the voters of California for passing Prop 8, but now only to be tested in court to try and deny the voters their decision - not once but twice. I was dissapointed in the presidential results. We will support him in his presidency but not his ideas of “spreading the wealth”, taxing business who are the only ones that produce jobs, his views on the war on terror and national security including military funding. When you get to congress please attack the “bailouts” they signed our names to and return money for that program to the people. Thanks again!

Tom,
This is the third time I’ve had the oppurtunity to vote for you. The first was during the recall election, the second was in this recent primary election and now in the ‘08 general election. Each vote was with the greatest confidence that you represent my beliefs and values. I wish you the greatest success in Congress and please know that you have my prayers and support!

As an absentee property owner in El Dorado county and Ventura county resident, I am looking forward to having you in DC to represent our interests. We need more conservatives in Washington, to represent those of us in exile.
Best of luck on the recount!
We miss hearing you on the John & Ken show.
It would be good to hear your thoughts on the governor’s proposal to increase the sales tax by 1.5%

We need Tom McClintock in DC. He would have had the sense to vote against the nebulous bailout. 700+ pages. We need him now to make sure the funds are managed with transparency. We need Tom in the Whitehouse! Thanks to the people of Northern CA for supporting Tom McClintock.

HI Tom,
I’m still mad at Hannity for recommending Arnold instead of you for governor…..I really hope you get into congress, because we need you fighting for us somewhere!! You are awesome, and you are very articulate, and you speak the truth. Thanks:)
11.06.08
9:06 pm
Congratulations!
Your campaign is the only one I have ever donated too… wish it could have been more.
California is blessed with abundant resourses, yet… Californians are overburdened with taxes… unlike Oregon with no State Sales Tax and Nevada and Washington with no Income Tax… yet California always seems to be running in the RED… now the sales tax is going up 15%
Just promise that you will do your best to keep spending in check…
11.06.08
9:33 pm
Tom,
Go for it!! We need you more than ever. The California legislature did not listen to your wisdom…I hope Washington will. We need a sane voice to stop the tax and spend pattern that is slowly bleeding our country dry. The best of luck for your tough battle ahead. Just remember you have so many supporters behind you.
Sincerely,
Holly Kelly

Hello, from Texas - I have occassionally watched a bit of your career for many years, and I pray for you upon every single remembrance of you.
I would that California had many more of your kind, and that Texas did, too, for that matter.
God be with you and keep you and all your entire support team, and family and loved ones.

Your views on limited government and a voice for sanity are going to be critical for this nation in the coming years. I do hope that you prevail and can counter the departure we have had from sane ethical government. With the massive turnout in your district I am glad I was able to help financially, looks like every vote counted. I am sure that the 4th district will be represented exceptionally well. May God Bless you in your efforts to govern wisely and persuasively. Your voice of reason will be a very important one in Washington.

Congratulations on swimming against an outgoing tide and winning a tough race. In the difficult days ahead, I am certain that many who voted for your opponent will come to be grateful that you prevailed. They will learn what we already know: Californians need Tom McClintock’s clear-headed leadership, rooted in the principles of the Founding, in Washington. Go light the beacon and carry it for all of us.

11:13 am
I hope that Democrats don’t try to pull a fast one on this race and declare brown the victor after the recount. McClintock should be the winner and is a true Republican. I voted for him as Lt.Gov a couple yrs ago. He reminds me a lot of Ala. Senator Jeff Sessions. It will be good to have him in the House of Reps.
